1. Overview and Mission Statement

The Neuroscience Graduate Studies Program (NGSP) is an interdisciplinary campus-wide graduate training program of the Ohio State University. The mission of the NGSP is to prepare students for successful careers in neuroscience research. The NGSP trains students to be independent, skilled and creative scientists with the potential to become leading contributors in their chosen fields. The NGSP offers a rigorous and comprehensive program of study which combines coursework, mentored laboratory research, and regular participation in seminars and conferences. At all stages of training, the professional development of the student is of paramount concern. Students who graduate from the NGSP have a solid foundation of knowledge in neuroscience at the molecular, cellular, systems and behavioral levels and a mastery of the specific areas of knowledge and technical skills pertinent to their chosen research area.

This handbook is designed to provide information on the policies, procedures and requirements of the NGSP.
